Behavioral Health
Behavioral health challenges are a part of life just like physical health challenges. We’re here to help with both.
Everyone has physical and behavioral health challenges sooner or later. You can see us for help with both. You must be a primary care patient to receive mental health care from us.
As part of your primary care, our Behavioral Health Consultants work with you, your primary care provider and our psychiatrists and psychiatric nurse practitioners. Common challenges that we help patients face include:
- Medication Assisted Treatment
- Coping with diabetes, hypertension or other medical problems
- Support during difficult life events
- Sleep problems
- Behavioral changes to improve overall well being
- Ways to manage symptoms of depression, stress, and anxiety
Our Behavioral Health Consultants also assist patients with emotional wellness throughout their pregnancy journey. We provide services during your pregnancy and after. Services include:
- Life transitions
- Nutritional Education
- Groups and Classes
- Pregnancy Education
- After Delivery Check-in
We can’t help with everything – for example we do not provide long-term counseling – but we can refer you to others for issues we can’t solve here. Our services DO NOT include:
- Court ordered evaluations
- Special evaluations (e.g., custody, immigration, schools, FOID, neurological, social security)
- Therapy
- Complex case management (e.g., obtaining housing, applying for social security disability)
In addition to the behavioral care our team offers, we have other resources here that may help, too. These include our integrative medicine team and health classes and programs.
Your Behavioral Health Consultant – a social worker or other certified mental health professional – can help determine if you need to see a psychiatrist. If you need medication, once you’ve received a prescription, your BHC can help you monitor your health on an ongoing basis.
For your convenience you can often see your BHC the same day as your medical appointment. Appointments usually last between 20-30 minutes.
