Psychiatric Evaluation & Medication Management
We provide psychiatric assessments and medication management as part of primary care for our patients. We can’t provide this service if you are not yet our patient.
Understanding a mental illness can help you to manage and live with it. Our work with patients falls into two main areas:
Psychiatric Assessments
Patients sometimes come to us with a diagnosis or multiple diagnoses of a mental illness they received before. Other times, you may feel something is wrong and we’ll work with you to diagnose your problem.
In either case, we work with you to understand what’s wrong. This helps us identify issues you’re facing and work together on coping with your illness.
We may be able to refer you for external services like case management, psychotherapy, or neuropsychological testing.
Medication Management and Education
The other big part of our work is to identify if medication can help you. We can help people start taking medication.
We also make sure any medicines you currently take still have the desired effect. On follow-up visits, we will check your progress and adjust medications as needed.
A psychiatry provider is part of your overall care team. We will see you periodically alongside your other providers. Once you are feeling better, your psychiatric provider may refer you back to your primary care provider for continued medication management with psychiatry follow up as needed.
