Seeking Patient Advisors for Tapestry 360 Health Advisory Panel (TAP)!

Published On: Apr 14, 2023Categories: Articles, News

Tapestry 360 Health is committed to providing high-quality, patient-center health care services. We recognize that to do this well, it is critical to include patient voices. Currently we receive valuable patient feedback via online reviews, patient satisfaction surveys, and feedback given directly to staff. Additionally, as an FQHC it is a requirement that at least 51% of our Board of Directors is made up of active patients, which provides a valuable patient perspective for organizational leadership.

In order to build on our existing work to include these voices, we are piloting our first Tapestry 360 Health Advisory Panel (TAP) in the summer of 2023. The vision of the TAP is to incorporate patient perspectives and prioritize the needs of the patients and communities we serve, and to promote advancement of positive health outcomes through health equity and high quality, accessible care. This will help us strengthen communication and feedback from patients in a sustainable way.

We have chosen to focus our pilot TAP specifically on advancing LGBTQ+ care at Tapestry 360 Health. In January 2021, Tapestry 360 Health created an internal LGBTQ+ Care Committee to broaden inclusivity and accessibility for LGBTQ+ staff, patients, and community in our clinics. This Committee will be able to provide internal support for our TAP.

During our planning process for the TAP, we’ve been able to work with three patients to ensure that our work is patient-centered from the start. Here’s what one patient representative on the planning team shared about their experience working on this project:

I’m excited about the TAP because it makes me feel like my providers take my needs seriously and want to give me good care. I’ve liked being part of planning because I believe that hard things I’ve been through can have meaning if other people don’t have to experience them. -Jordan, TAP Planning Team patient member

Tapestry 360 Health is looking for additional patients who are interested in improving LGBTQ+ affirming care at our clinics. This is a paid position, with an expected commitment of 1-2 hours/month. In order to be eligible to be a TAP advisor, applicants must:

  • Identify as LGBTQ+ or a LGBTQ+ ally
  • Be over the age of 18 years
  • Have been a patient at Tapestry 360 Health for at least one year
